About the Enterprise AI Cluster

The Enterprise AI cluster prepares students to understand, design, and deliver AI-powered solutions within real organizations — whether for-profit, non-profit, or governmental. The cluster bridges the technical and the strategic: students develop both a working knowledge of how AI systems are designed and deployed and a practical understanding of how they are adopted, governed, and sustained inside complex enterprises.
Who is this cluster for? Anyone who works in — or plans to work in — a business or organization. AI is reshaping every function and every industry. This cluster is intentionally broad, giving students the literacy and skills to lead, contribute to, or evaluate AI initiatives regardless of their role or field.
The cluster is self-contained and follows a clear progression: students first explore the landscape of enterprise AI, then learn to design AI solutions grounded in real business needs, and finally develop the skills to deliver those solutions effectively. Each course builds on the last, creating a coherent arc from concept to implementation.
Student Learning Outcomes
Students who complete this cluster develop skills and knowledge in four areas:
- Recognize the strategic role of AI in modern enterprises and describe how AI-driven tools and models reshape business operations, decision-making, and competitive advantage across industries.
- Analyze organizational needs and design AI solutions that align with business goals, user requirements, ethical standards, and governance frameworks.
- Work directly with AI tools to generate, evaluate, and critically audit AI outputs — developing the practical fluency needed to recognize when AI is and isn't working, and to use it effectively in enterprise contexts.
- Deliver enterprise-ready AI solutions — refining prototypes through feedback, addressing compliance and integration requirements, and communicating recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Sequence of Courses for the Cluster
The Enterprise AI cluster in the ENTI minor includes three courses worth a total of 9 credits. All students in the minor also take three core courses.

To meet the prerequisite requirement for MGMT/IST/ENGR 425, you must take:
- (ECON 102 or ECON 104 or ECON 14 or MGMT 215; an ECON course is not required for the ENTI minor) and
- (CAS 100 or CAS 137T or EMSC 100S)
Enterprise AI Course Options
The cluster is designed to be taken in sequence. ETI 100 is an enforced prerequisite for ETI 200, and ETI 200 is an enforced prerequisite for ETI 400. A grade of C or better is required to advance to the next course.
